Smack Talk Dressed in Freedom of Speech’s Clothing

Growing up, I was taught to respect the opinions of others, even if I didn’t agree.  Even if I passionately, vehemently disagreed, because I was told that this was one of the golden opportunities of being an American: the right to speak freely about politics, religion and just about any other crazy thought that fell out of your head.  I don’t have to see eye to eye with you, but I can promise you I won’t give you the stink […]

Oregon Chai Twitter Party!

Those of you who have followed this blog (and I thank you) know that I love my tea time.  Whether iced or hot — conversation and contemplation flow so much better over a glass or mug o' tea.  Chai happens to be one of my favorites.   Tea with T. Katz wants to invite you to the Oregon Chai Twiter Party!  Oregon Chai is celebrating its new 10-ounce canister of The Original™ Chai Tea Latte Mix (#Chaifor10).    Tomorrow, Tuesday August 9th from […]

Hot! Chaud! Caliente! Step away from the cup!

Yesterday morning it was announced that Starbucks Corporation is being sued by a Manhattan customer who alleges she suffered physical pain and mental anguish after being served tea that was too hot.  Being a big-city dweller, I’d like to think this was not her first go-round with Starbucks.  Or hot tea.    Say what you will about the big beverage chains but they are nice enough to put that polite, handy warning on their cups stating, “Careful, the beverage you’re […]

Earth Day.

April 22nd is Earth Day, a day set aside out of 365, to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment.  There are celebrations around the world to honor the planet and some communities take the entire week to pay tribute and educate folks how to take care of the old gal.  Earth Day started back in 1970, which means that it turns 40.  Wow.  40 years old.  A tough time in anyone’s life (unless you’re Jennifer Lopez, I hear). […]

Sure could use a bit of good news today.

You know you’ve had a rough go of things when one of the best phrases you’ve heard since 2008 is, “You’re taking a hit in pay, we’re reducing your medical coverage and, um… no more paid holidays for you!”  Why?  Because the good news is, you didn’t lose your job.  Now you just have to worry about keeping: a) your house b) the utilities on and c) an adequate supply of food in the fridge and pantry.    I’m not […]

Daylight Loser Time

I lost an hour of sleep this weekend.  The powers-that-be call it Daylight Saving Time, but I lost an hour and I want it back, I’m thinking with either a nap or a massage.   Those closest to me like to try and tell me that I’ll get an hour back this autumn, but the bags under my eyes know better.  To me it all smacks of the ol’ Wimpy “I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today” routine. […]

Happy Dr. Seuss Day!

March 2nd is the birthday of Theodor Geisel (better know as Dr. Seuss) and it is also National Read Across America Day created by the National Education Association. As far as holidays go, it’s mighty high up on the totem pole of excitement for me.  The NEA sponsors school and community events across the nation to inspire children to read and there is nothing like a healthy dose of Dr. Seuss to get kids (and adults) excited about reading.   […]
